Making friends in new city as a Summer Associate w small intern cohort?

I’m doing my summer internship in a big city, but unfortunately no one I know is here this summer.

Obviously I’m fraternizing with my intern cohort, but a) my specific day to day practice area only has me as an intern, so I have limited interactions with all the other interns, and b) the other interns are all from this area, from the same school, and apparently all their friends are also still in town so its more like trying to assimilate into an established friend group, rather than everyone making new friends. Everyone’s super nice but its definitely not the same vibe as when you’re all new to area, plus only seeing them in a really limited capacity doesn’t help.

Does anyone have any advice? I feel like most people I know in similar situations have just used the apps to try and make friends but :/. I figure worst comes to worst I’m just able to fully dedicate myself to ft recruiting and the gym this summer, but wanted to see what other people had to say.
