March Madness 2017

I saw an article about an MBA student from Booth who developed an app to provide sabermetrics and tips about teams and tournament history while filling out your bracket. It's geared towards helping people who haven't kept up with the college season or know little about basketball in general.

Who do you guys like for this year's tournament? I'm interested to see how Xavier does, given their great start but recent struggle. Duke has also had some weird losses in their past few games (Syracuse, Miami FL). Ohio State got bounced from both the tournament and the NIT, so it might be Matta's time to exit.

I'll definitely be watching a lot of the 5-12, 6-11, and 7-10 games. I'm eyeing Cincinnati, Maryland, and Louisville to get upset in the first round; I've heard that Rick Pitino is only good for about 15 seconds.

Pick Baylor to lose. It's definitely a longer shot than others but they typically fold in the tourney (bounced out in the first round the last two years as a 3 and a 5 seed).

Staying in the Big 12, Ok State is a very good team (they hired SFA's coach in the offseason) and while Michigan is playing well, the 10 seed will win imo. There are some sabermetrics that have OSU with the 2nd best offense in the country.

I've also got UNCW beating UVA, Nevada taking down ISU (you live and die by the three and today, ISU dies by it imo), and my big upset pick is Rhode Island to make it to the Sweet 16 (Creighton making a late run doesn't dismiss that their best players is done for the year, Oregon lost their best rim protector in the PAC tourney).

Did two brackets, in one (with way more upsets) the Zags win over UNC and Cincy and St. Mary's makes a run to the Elite 8. In the other I went largely chalk until later and I've Duke taking out Kentucky in the final.

Since you have Duke winning in your second bracket, I'm curious to hear what you think about their recent performance and their season in general (between media attention, Coach K's games out, etc.)
