MegaTrends in Our Society

Feel free to scroll but here is my take on the current state of important MegaTrends affecting our society:

Given how much entrepreneurship has evolved, there has been notable financial and societal change companies have made in the race to revolutionize our world. Some of this new change is focused on two main trends: digital accessibility and technological scaling. Below are my thoughts on their impact and future direction they will take.

Digital accessibility refers to the ability for more people to have technology at the palm of their hands. Whether that be through phones, laptops and computers, this technology gives people quicker access to new information with ease. For example, companies like Twitter, Instagram and TikTok have bolstered their presence in the social media atmosphere, not only becoming a networking platform but evolving to news outlets and places of commerce. Workplace environments have shifted in recent years and the ability to hop on Zoom or Microsoft Teams is another key example highlighting the evolution of digital accessibility. Plenty more examples can be listed here but tapping into this market will be crucial for future companies to adapt to rapid global changes.

Technological scaling highlights how advanced commercial and industrial tech has become in the recent century. One interesting technological theory that’s relevant to this MegaTrend is Kryder’s law: how technological advances allow technology to double the amount of data storage it has every year. Here, it’s prevalent that as we start to develop new technologies and learn from them, it allows people to grow technology to new heights. The most advance form of technology is seen through A.I. and its ability to eventually become smart and advanced just like humans. Research even says how quick our evolution of our impact on the tech space has become an exponential grows our own knowledge in the industry. With all of this being said, how we decide to scale technology is causing chatter in trending news and it will be interesting to see where it will lead in the near future.

Overall, Digital accessibility and technological scaling face their individual problems but looking at them together, they have similar problems and solutions that can be made. An overarching issue can be seen in medicine and the fact that digital health has become more abundant; yet people haven’t been taking advantage of this new form of medicine due to lack in availability, lack in understanding of these tools and accuracy in healthcare treatment. To solve this, there would need to be a bigger push within governments to draw an emphasize on how Telehealth services work and efficient they can be if used properly. Also, government grants towards healthcare companies who specialize in the space is needed to support funding and research which will strengthen digital health’s stability and longevity.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.
