Mewing During Client Calls?

I just hit the desk at a top EB in their M&A group and over my senior year I dove head first into looksmaxxing. This was done in anticipation of the weight gain / bloating / eye bags and other looksminimizations I'll face during my time as an analyst.

As part of my looksmaxxing journey, I've dedicated myself to mewing during ALL possible waking hours by limiting my speech to preserve my perfect tongue posture as well as chewing heavy amounts of mastic gum in order to enlarge my masseter muscles.

However, I recently got pinged by my Associate "to stop making weird faces" on client calls. I'm getting extremely nervous that I will be labelled as bottom bucket.

Should I stop mewing to achieve top-bucket (Chad) status or will the inevitable degradation in my facial aesthetics (sub-5) outweigh the benefits? Thanks for any advice!

Balancing professional performance with personal goals is key. Based on the most helpful WSO content, here’s what you need to know:

  1. Professionalism First: Your primary focus during client calls should be on clear communication and professionalism. If your mewing practice is causing noticeable distractions or "weird faces," it could harm your reputation and performance evaluations. Associates and seniors value composure and focus during client interactions.

  2. Looksmaxxing vs. Career Goals: While maintaining your appearance is important, over-prioritizing it at the expense of your work performance can backfire. Remember, your career trajectory and reputation in the industry will have a far greater impact on your long-term success than minor aesthetic changes.

  3. Moderation is Key: You don’t have to abandon mewing entirely, but consider scaling it back during work hours, especially during client-facing situations. Focus on maintaining a professional demeanor and save your looksmaxxing efforts for personal time.

  4. Top-Bucket Status: To achieve top-bucket status, prioritize delivering value, being a team player, and maintaining a strong work ethic. These traits will outweigh any perceived aesthetic concerns.

In short, adjust your mewing habits to ensure they don’t interfere with your professional responsibilities. A balanced approach will help you maintain both your career and personal goals.
