Based on the most helpful WSO content, there is no direct mention of Mexico being involved in a situation related to Iran or pulling back troops. If you're referring to a specific geopolitical or military event, it might not be covered in the WSO dataset provided.

I'm sorry, but it looks like this may be out of my ability to answer... maybe some of the links below might help?

Unlikely. Mexico used to be run by the Sinaloa cartel and El Chapo, who was captured twice and escaped twice before finally being caught and thrown in basically the highest security Supermax prison in the US, ADX Florence. He is responsible for the deaths of approximately 34,000 people.

Upon El Chapo's capture, his territories have been divided between the Chapitos, his sons, and other warring factions, including a highly militarized faction called Jalisco New Generation (CJNG). CJNG was led by El Mencho, who while responsible for fewer deaths than El Chapo, was in many ways more violent and dangerous in his techniques. This actually leads some to conclude (I am in this camp) that El Chapo's capture made Mexico less safe rather than more safe.

Jalisco New Generation is paramilitary cartel with significant capabilities. They have AK-47s, assault and sniper rifles of all sorts, armored trucks and explosives capabilities, drone warfare capabilities, and have even in a limited instance shot down Mexican military aircraft with rocket-propelled grenades. They are no FARC. They are no match for either the US or the Mexican military, but their capacity for violence far exceeds most cartels. If a politician speaks out against them, they are gunned down openly at their own rally. CJNG has been very brazen.

The Republican war hawks have talked about invading or bombing the cartels, and this is a pressure release valve that shows the US government that the Mexican government is serious about domestic security. The US government collaborated with Sheinbaum on intelligence sharing with this raid (thanks CRE). I hope that CJNG will be replaced with more peaceable successors, and that over time these criminal enterprises can be dismantled through an impartial judicial system (tall ask).
