Most recent movies suck big time the last good movie I watched was Blow Out (1981) with John Travolta. Half the movies I start watching these days I can't even get halfway through the movie... might be partly my fault but maybe these guys need to make better movies.

Safdies are great. Banshees of Inisheerin was excellent, really enjoyed Barbarian, Promising Young Woman, Parasite, Triangle of Sadness, All Quiet on the Western Front to name a few.

I think horror/thrillers are having a renaissance right now with A24 (Midsommar, Hereditary) and some other studios. Also Bodies, Bodies, Bodies was a solid meta movie. Evil Dead Rise was also great.

Also a big fan of Ridley Scott and I’m excited for his Napoleon film coming out in November.

If we expand out to the past 10 years, Neo Westerns also been excellent. Hell or High Water and Sicario are some of my all time favorite films.

Marvel is definitely dying in favor of more classic Blockbusters like Top Gun, Dungeons and Dragons, Barbie, Mission Impossible.

I’m a huge cinephile so I can usually find something to enjoy out of a film as long as it’s actually trying and not just a cash grab. Hell I can even enjoy a cash grab if they’re self aware of the shamelessness.

It’s a Tarantino Hangout movie, kind of like Dazed and Confused. Nothing really happens, you’re just supposed to enjoy sitting around some interesting characters and kind of living their life for a few hours. Not for everyone but I enjoyed it. Climax was great.

Yeah I don’t care how the most recent 6 films were.

I’ve probably watched the first 6 movies enough times as a kid that I’ve memorized the words to every main character’s script lol

I saw one of those highly publicized B movies that was terrible. I don’t really remember the name - maybe it was Cocaine Bear or something.

The Many Saints of Newark.

I still thought it was decent because it gave us some new Sopranos universe content, but man, it just didn't sit right.  Suffered from the same problem as the Star Wars sequels where they have too many references to the originals (keeping Luke and Han Solo around, for example) and this gets in the way of them introducing new characters or plots.  My parents who aren't Sopranos fans but have a general idea of who Tony is liked the movie a lot more than me, probably because all the desperate fan service went over their heads.

I thought Tenet was way too difficult to follow for the bulk of the movie, I thought it underwhelmed in terms of Christopher Nolan standards.

I kinda felt the same way, but also it just made me wonder if my comprehension skills got worse or something lol. That's the thing with Nolan movies, you don't really know if it's just you being dense.

I got into with a friend over this, I feel like it was really grasping at straws, especially with making the villain not seem that bad, just a general Russian baddie with a yacht.

65. I have been waiting my entire life for a high budget, rated R dino horror. When I initially heard Adam Driver was on the project a year before they started marketing the film I was ecstatic...

It ended up being complete dogshit!

Joker - felt like a movie about mental health that unnecessarily used the Batman movie universe for no reason…I just can’t ever imagine Arthur Fleck as the “clown prince of crime.” Also didn’t like how much it ripped off Taxi Driver and King of Comedy and it was soooo on the nose. When joker says “what do you get when you cross a mentally ill loner with a society that abandons him…” like wow way to literally state the entire purpose of the movie as if the entire audience is too stupid to get it.

damn gotta disagree with that, I really enjoyed it. Some of the Riddler twitch stream incel stuff felt a little forced, but I thought it was overall a pretty unique take on Batman with some great performances. And I love the dark rainy atmosphere of the film.

Padre Pio. Was supposed to be movie about a great saint of the church for hardcore catholics. Ended up having sacriligious scenes and not really even being about the saint. Plenty of catholic publications spoke out against it although everyone was originally very excited with the release, especially with Shia Labeouf playing the lead role.

oh damn I forgot about that one, I really like his interview with Bishop Barron. Have you seen Nefarious? That was really well done imo.
