Most fun city to live in your 20's?

Monkeys,

I've lived in NYC my whole life and it has always been my plan for where I'm gonna live post-grad. However, I just started my freshman year at Vanderbilt and I'm loving everything about the South (music, food, drinks, people, etc.) I just wanted to get some of your opinions on some other cities I should look into.

Sounds like a safe space!

Could you explain that a bit, I've haven't visited yet but I've been meaning to go there for awhile.

I would recommend NYC, but since you've been there done that, I would recommend SoCal.

^ agreed. OP, I’d seriously recommend looking at cities abroad. Do a few years in a large European city. London is ideal. After that, fuck off to Asia and open your mind to the other side of the world. Dubai, Hong Kong, Singapore are great options for careers. Further if it interests you check out Australia. Melbourne and Sydney are seriously awesome cities where I’d happily live

Denver is basically undergrad 2.0. Lived there from 24-28 and it was like college all over again. The city is full of mid 20-somethings and most are single transplants that are looking to have fun and explore the state. Almost every weekend during spring and summer was camping with a big group or going out to the bars. In the winter it was either going out in the city or going up to the mountains to ski at Breck/Vail and going out there. Hard to find a better spot for your 20's imo.

San Diego, Denver... are underrated

bruh what, everyone and their mother is going there. Rents are increasing a lot there, they are no longer underrated, but you're right in that they are fun for sure.

Love living in the South after growing up the NE. I live in Charlotte now and its great. The worst part is NC's insane alcohol laws (no HHs, no bottomless mimosas, shitty state-owned liquor stores, true bars must be members only, the list goes on and on). Wish I was making these up, but I'm not. Along with the state income tax, it definitely makes Florida and Texas a lot more attractive.

The sale of alcohol in NC is managed by the Alcoholic Beverage Control Commision (ABC). There are no private liquor stores, only ones run by ABC. So basically, what you end up with is no competition for liquor sales or the really nice stores/warehouses that you see in states with a private system. Restaurants cannot have alcohol (liquor, beer and wine) account for over 70% of sales and this is audited by ABC. If you go over, you must be a private club with members that pay dues to belong (yes this is an actual thing, I wish I was joking). On top of that, restaurants and bars cannot sell discounted drinks unless it's for the entire day. Then there's just a ton of small things that I keep learning the longer I'm here. For instance, if you have an app to a restaurant to get rewards points, you can't earn points on alcohol, nor can you redeem rewards for alcohol. Lastly, alcohol sales must end at 2am and everything must be consumed by 2:30am. All this being said, there's still "bars" and a nightlife scene, but tamer imo than other cities bc who wants to open a bar and follow all this shit?

Pretty sure all of these are in the name of limiting drunk driving, but I don't know how forcing places to sell discounted drinks for an entire day instead of three hours accomplishes that lol.

I do like Charlotte so far, but this was definitely a shock coming from a state with a much more lenient system.
