Moving Cities due to COVID?

Due to COVID/lockdown, I’ve been considering relocating from Chicago to a tier 2/3 city such as Dallas, Charlotte or Atlanta. For context, I’m a second year analyst at a MM bank and have been in Chicago for 1.5 years. I’ve loved my time Chicago so far and think the city will bounce back, but COVID and WFH are making me reconsider the (relatively) high cost of living, horrible eight-month winters and compounding years of bad governance coupled with questions of the long-term durability of the city. Would love to hear responses from people who have made these moves or are familiar with any of the cities mentioned above. Thanks in advance!

I’m likely relocating to Atlanta sometime around May or June next year. COL is definitely lower than a lot of major cities and the weather would beat Chicago. Keep in mind it’s a lot of suburban sprawl so would not have the urban feel as much that Chicago has imo. For both Dallas and Atlanta keep in mind that all the growth the last few years has pushed rents much higher in desirable areas like Uptown in Dallas or Buckhead in Atlanta.
