Moving to NYC in your late 20s versus early 20s?
So for the past few years of my life, I have pretty much been in a second tier city which isn't on the same level as an NYC or Chicago. I made a few mistakes with my college career so while my friends got jobs in Chicago and NYC after college, I had to move back in with parents and get my life together to where I moved to more of a second tier city which is fun at times but not on the same level as NYC.
The city I am currently in is real conservative where people get married before the age of 30 and go the family life in the suburbs, definitely want none of that.
By the time I can entertain a properly done move to NYC career wise (not in finance btw), I will be in my late 20s.
Can't help but feel like some things might be different, like moving to NYC at the age of 22 versus the age of 27 or 28.
I am a late bloomer socially so I definitely have the same mindset as a 22 year old wanting to enjoy city life as opposed to some guy who will be in his late 20s, where typically people look for marriage and something long term.
Any advice on how it will be different or whether it will be that different at all? I am definitely looking to get as involved in the nightlife and party scene as much as possible while delaying marriage and anything long term.

After college, I got a job offer in a remote town in Midwest, compiling management report for a mortgage company, after two years, I decided to reset my career by going to NYC and started as a staff1 at a big four advisory firm. It was not easy as my coworkers were all 22 year old college grads.
I did not enjoy the rest of my 20s, as the advisory line of business had me working 9-9 everyday for 4 years. Weekends are used to travel back home and do expenses.
I think I am better off today vs staying behind in Midwest. It’s not going to be rosy as you imagine, but it will be a step up from where you are today.

unlike many other cities...NYC is BETTER as you get older, for men (dating, eating, drinking, appreciation of the culture, ect...).
This probably tops out in your late 30's and then starts to reverse. For women, NYC tops out at an earlier age...late 20's and then reverses
NYC is probably the only city in the U.S. where age really doesn't matter for men. There are single men in their 50s who date attractive 30-something women. It's an adult Disneyland for single men. Truly a great place.
