Open Carry - ok for interview?
A friend of mine has an interview with a bank down in Virginia (I think Harris Williams or something like that). He is also a gun owner and enthusiast.
Will he get dinged for having his gun on him (in plain site) during the interview? Please note that VA has open carry laws. I personally believe it'll improve his chances of getting the gig. He's aiming for an associate role.
Thanks in advance.
This is a bad idea.
Seriously? This is one of the worst ideas I've ever heard, unless the company does deals day in and day out for weapons companies.
tell him to walk into HW open carry see how some of my buddy's like that.
Tell him to wear this: http://www.thunderwearholsters.com/
This is clearly a joke but I'm offended that you think VA gun laws somehow make everyone there backwards.
lol
I typically think of someone who does that as strapping a penis to their hip as if they were making up for their own lack of manliness. Which would be ok by itself, hey you need an extra pair of testicles to hang with real men why should i care? Except of course that since it's a gun if you're feeling super insecure you can take it off your hip and kill people with it.
Very not cool.
You'll be the 1st m'fer crying when I walk right past you while you're getting robbed and I have a gun on my hip. Carrying a gun has nothing to do with manliness.
haha imagine the guy in the interview being scared shitless, just answering the questions himself while constantly looking at the gun, not trying to offend your "friend".
I can't believe this is a serious question. Does the fact that it's allowed make it a good idea?
I, for one, think it is a great idea. Show's you're not fucking around. He's not gonna get a rejection....
Seriously though, it does depend on the type of gun. I would avoid something like this, too pretentious unless he's reppin' diamond studs too..

maybe something like this?

That second pic reminds me of a quote from one of the Hornblower novels ... "Generally though, one used one's pistol by placing the barrel against the belly of one's opponent before squeezing the trigger."
I love guns, but just because something is legal doesn't make it desireable. It's legal to show up to work late, but your employer will hate it.....
If hes gonna carry i say he carries this with the 100 round beta mag.
Has anyone on this site ever seen a gun not on a police officer's hip, or in a sporting goods store? I'm serious.
Guns are quite the hornet's nest on WSO. You'll find a community of avid gun owners here, myself included.
Grew up in the countryside throughout Appalachia and the South. Then I joined the Army.
Nope, never saw a gun before.
Is that a penis joke, lol?
Regards
I own a wide variety of guns, so yes some of us have.
Yes, i am from Texas and my friend from Colorado would always wear his on his hip when we walked around (not open carry but he still had it). I made fun of him all the time (he was the whitest kid alive) but in all seriousness knew that, while with him, absolutely nothing was going to happen. I'd rather have a gun 1000 times and not need it than not have a gun and need it once...
do NOT bring a weapon to an interview... out of sight or not, BAAAAD IDEA
what kind of gun? heard they only like assault rifles at Harris i wouldn't go with anything less than that though. Has the OPs friend thought about a cross bow with a exploding tip?
Its not like you'll have to intimidate your MD to go to bat for you at HW anyway
No, the Army told me guns were bad
anything less than a shotgun is an auto ding
also dont forget to bring a prestigious gun none of this bryco bullshit
A shotgun is a bit pretentious, not to mention big and bulky. Id prefer a glock 18 fully auto, small compact and much more useful
I wasn't aware of the gun community here. I sold a few of mine to pay for tuition, but I still have a 12 gauge mossberg and a .38. When I turn 21 in a month I will finally inherit a .357 and some shitty Japanese pistol that my grandfather took from a poor fucker in WWII.
WSO firearms group anyone?
Make sure you take a target gun. To clarify, that absolutely does NOT mean a gun used for shooting targets as gun enthusiasts have thought for years. It obviously means taking a gun that comes from a prestigious manufacturer with a lot of history and tradition.
Preferably a revoulationary era gentlemans dueling pistol, and you must bring two. Why two you ask? Its simple, if you bring two it is implied that if the interviewer were to reject you that you would demand a duel.
Yeah, just to give you college kids an idea, I recently saw this video of the interview process at Rothschild:
That's for their London office, so prepare accordingly.
That makes complete sense. Good initiative.
I made a firearms group

It's his right. Who cares about the job interview. FIGHT THE POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My mind is blown that about half of the responses took me seriously despite this obviously being a joke and being posted in the monkey around forum.
However, the comment about not needing a gun for HW MDs to go to bat for you made me laugh my ass off.
Then give me a silver nanner dude...just kidding.
No one expects Cert Users with proper grammar and capitalization to be facetious.
True or not, this thread has morphed in to pure awesomeness
^^^Agree. Anytime you get a discussion about firearms going with a group of people with tremendous amounts of pent-up rage, good things are bound to happen.
Although I am slightly disapointed with the OP I wish he would have asked if it would have been ok for his "friend" to take an ax into the invetview. That would have just made this thread so much more awesome.
I'm more curious to find out who is throwing monkey shit at all of the pro gun members. Would that person care to surface and explain themselves?
Regards
If you don't like guns after this, well, check and see if you have a pulse:
My favorite is BrittanyIts the frenchy's they were a little pissed off about the comment I made about shitting of the eiffel tower in a different thread
