Prestige issues

Been seeing a lot of posts on prestige lately and wanted to share my story.

Came from non target practice and have been grinding to make it to this point. I've reached what I initially viewed as the top ranks, only to be faced with the reality that there's still prestige ahead to be chased.

How much prestige is worth it? I'm super proud of my titles and emblems, and I show them off as much as possible, but it really sucks to see almost everything I worked for effectively being erased when faced with this decision.

For context, I killed it during the campaign (think veteran difficulty), but then really began to shine in multiplayer (all gold primaries btw) quickly passing my peers. Now here I am at level 70, feeling my efforts are undermined by those who have already prestiged.

If I decide to prestige, will others still realize I'm a strong player despite my low rank? Will I lose respect if I show up using the default classes? What if someone challenges me to a 1v1 and I haven't unlocked the ghillie suit yet?

Need advice - I'm thinking prestige 4 would be a good goal. Prestige 1-3 doesn't really count, and 4 also looks similar to 9 from a distance.

Would love to hear from more senior prestige levels if possible. Thanks in advance
