I have recently seen a lot of first-year analysts posting about how they're struggling to stay focused 100% of their day. As a first-year analyst, I can relate. There's a stigma about the industry that if you don't arrive and work tirelessly until midnight every day, you'll be behind everyone.
Forget the productivity BS and just do the job that's assigned. That's all there is to it.

Unless my VP is in the trenches with me, I work till I am no longer productive then pop open some league of legends or PubG. Then I watch a show about how some kids are struggling to buy socks, and feel bad i make so much money and get back to work.
doesn't help that my MD sets impossible deadlines to stroke the clients cock. Oh shit you need a CIM? my analyst will pump out a draft for you to review by end of day. The greatest advice I've seen from this site is that as soon as you realize you want to gtfo the office sooner rather than later you will find ways to be more productive. It's out of your hands at times but still a good mentality. Better than the boners who brag about how sick their life is when they stay late at work all the time
