Real World Portfolio Management
I wanted you guys to see this video with Josh Brown of The Reformed Broker so you can get an idea of how portfolio structure and balancing is done in the real world. Unlike the typical economic talking heads you see on TV, Josh is a no-bullshit kinda guy who is slugging it out in the trenches day in and day out, so this is not theoretical stuff. He's not overly concerned with Congressional antics and the debt ceiling because he structures his portfolios for growth in almost any environment. For those of you on the Asset Management side of the house, you need to get familiar with Josh. He's a prolific blogger, and he brings the heat each day.
53% of GOP believes missing dead line is not a big deal? Holy shit.
VERY interesting. thank Ed
"This is NOT a robust economy". So simple and straightforward yet so refreshing to hear someone with a non-bullshitting answer in investment strategies during this economy. thanks for the post.
Good stuff. Josh is the man.
And an avid twitter user like Mr. Braverman
I'll be the first to admit I love Apple products and they really are better that any other electronic device right now; aesthetically pleasing, the functionality, ease of use, and now that I finally have excel 2011 I can do some VBA/macro related stuff on my mac. But I won't buy their stock until they offer a dividend, which will probably never happen despite their enormous pile of cash right now. And I dont expect them to either, they have done very well growing and managing their own capital in recent years.
And maybe I misunderstood his comment, but where's the diversification or value that comes from owning Apple as well as other component or non component makers that are benefiting (likely thriving) from Apples secular growth (app designers/programmers, accessories manufacturers, hardware producers in China)?
Also, I wouldn't mind 8% in a tobacco stock either... if I believed it was undervalued. Gotta love dividends from a company pushing out a product with an inelastic price elasticity of demand!
Eddie, does he tweet?
Quite a bit, actually. You can (and should) follow him at @ReformedBroker.
