Red Pill or Blue Pill?

The red pill and its opposite, the blue pill, are pop culture symbols representing the choice between embracing the sometimes painful truth of reality (red) and the blissful ignorance of illusion (blue) .Which pill do you take? Do you accept reality or are you currently in illusion, refusing to accept it.

I'm pretty sure that the whole reason this message board exists is that some guy (Patrick) took the red pill a long time ago, then realized he should help guide people who would benefit from making the same decision.

To be honest, it sounds as though you took the blue pill and are so happy with the decision that you even think that you're free.

... perhaps taking the blue pill makes us think we took the red one? Holy shit, The Matrix may have all been a dream, and Neo is still in that tube supplying energy to the machines. What a mind fuck that would have been.

OR... He woke up at his messy Napster desk only to find out that he had dreamed that he was in a harvesting tube dreaming about being Neo and saving other people from harvesting tubes. Inception.

I've pretty much resorted to taking the blue pill in life to be honest. I try to not think about death and pretend that it doesn't exist.

"My dear, descended from the apes! Let us hope it is not true, but if it is, let us pray that it will not become generally known."

Red. Although I don't believe that you can tell me anything about reality that would surprise me anymore. A better question would be knowing when you die but cant prevent it VS not knowing.

Once I did bad and that I heard ever. Twice I did good and that I heard never.

In terms of blue pill, I picture a young professional thinking they can break into IBD and move into NYC. The illusion created but sometimes reality hits you hard, and the goal never happens. Also relates to young aspiring actors who move to NYC and stuggle to make ends meet. With millions of competitors, the "I'm different and can break in" mentality doesn't cut it. Sometimes a red pill hurts but its neccesary.

Let's be real, in America we have all taken the blue pill. Until the day comes where the people rise up in a violent nature to reclaim their rights we all continue to take the blue pill.

Yea bro, you're really oppressed.

Oppression has many forms. Do you know of an idea called creep? It is prevalent in a very obvious form in technology. The idea is that over time more and more gets added to something until it becomes so bloated and complicated that it is impossible for the average person to understand and use more than a small percentage of the features. Governments do the same things on a slower scale. The idea is called the Overton Window. You can't strip a society of all of its freedoms at once, however you can use events to slowly strip the freedoms and therefore move the window of acceptance. What we have today would have been considered outrageous 50 years ago, what will America be like 30 years from now? Will we accept a government that openly suppresses the people with a SS like police force? Or will the populace push back and will be be at a level of freedoms closer to the pre 9/11 period.
I in no way suggested that America is more oppressed than police state governments. But in no way are we even in the same field of view that our government was founded on.

In my village, growing up and becoming a man required participation in an ancient ritual; a rite of passage. Boys who'd come of age were required to travel far into the upper reaches of the valley to the Temple whereupon they'd pay visits to the Oracle. It was a long and dangerous road, fraught with perils and ethereal beings, said to be the lost spirits of failed travelers.

The few strong enough to persevere through these harrowing trials were given a choice upon reaching the Oracle, the Red Pill or the Blue Pill. The Oracle insisted upon us referring to him as Mr. Fishburne, and advocated we take our time in making this monumental decision. For many, the pressure was too great, and they threw themselves from the nearby cliffs and outcrops; I lost many friends during that fateful journey.

To make a long story short though, I didn't make it. I went a few miles and said "Fuck this", therein sealing my fate and was promptly excommunicated from my village. I travelled east and found a nice little school where I studied the hallowed field of finance. The finance Gods have since smiled upon me and granted me my current position.

Regarding the pills, I'm pretty sure I would've taken the blue anyways (it's my favorite color).

Happy Friday everyone

People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for freedom of thought which they seldom use.

You can't be blissfully ignorant if you knowingly swallow a pill to make you blissfully ignorant.

Fucking HR people can't think beyond "tell me about yourself."

HR People are just as bad to other HR people sometimes. I find it amusing how everyone here hates on HR. I'm a double major in HR and Economics, I tried HR and decided to go a different career route. GEEZ...
