Reimbursing travel
I am doing work experience at a non finance related company for three weeks. The work experience will be unpaid but they will give me tickets to an event to say thanks. The travelling will cost me £ 20 per day. What is the polite way to ask them if they are willing to pay for my travel?
if the event is social/entertaintment then you don't ask
if its for the benefit of the company and they get sth out of it bring it up with HR
yeah its £20 a day just to get to the office. They are sending me to the event at the end just as a one of to say thanks for all your help etc..
Ask HR or the person you'll be working under. It's probably something you should have brought up when they were hiring you (or whatever you'd call a free 3 week gig) but you might as well try now.
Curious, what's PS?
For some reason the pound sterling symbol comes out at ps on this site
I figured by your name it was £ (see how alt+3 comes out on here...) but I'd never seen PS. I'd just ask. Say you're spending that amount daily and wanted to see if there could be a way for them to reimburse you. They may, they may not but it doesn't hurt to ask as long as you do it professionally.
edit: and it does come out as PS...
By the way I did not have interviews or anything. We met up for around 10 minutes and that was it. I got it through a mate so it was very informal.
