Retained earnings not tying?
I am trying to tie out retained earnings for a public company (Carnival corporation) for the most recent period, but it looks like the standard Net Income - dividends + previous year retained earnings formula is slightly off (by $28 million). Any suggestions or ideas of what else is in included?
I would double check that my NI, dividends, and previous retained earnings are accurate. The statements you're using might not be the most up-to-date. If retained earnings is off then the balance sheet is not balancing or the asset side is off too
