If you have 0 clue about the language or programing fundementals it's going to be like reading a book of words you may be able to pronounce, but don't understand the meang of. 0/10 not a good way for noobs to start.

Learning how to code is a very abstract statement.

Will you become hireable as a SWE at FAANG if you reverse engineer prebuilt products? No. Will you better understand the syntax and how code works? Yes.

I would recommend finding a unique project that is doable in 2-3 weeks that pertains to you. You will be more passionate about this project and it will provide you some value in the future.

The draw for many engineers is building something that has never been built before. I could build a basic Facebook or Uber clone in a week that functions. However, these problems have already been solved. These were huge problems, not just from a technological standpoint, but also from the business model perspective. This is part of the reason why I love working with engineering teams. They do stuff that is novel in a world that just likes to copy things.
