Sad cuz of club rejections
This is my second semester trying to apply to clubs and I just keep getting rejected from them. I go to a public target school and my ultimate dream would be to go into IB. I honestly feel really discouraged and I'm not sure how I can fill up my resume without these clubs. I just feel really discouraged and I don't know what to do. :( Any suggestions?
Hey there, chin up! Club rejections can sting, but they're not the end of the road for your IB dreams. Here's a bunch of bananas... I mean, suggestions, to help you swing back into action:
Craft Your Story: Use any experience you have to create a compelling narrative about why you're interested in IB. It's all about connecting the dots between what you've done and where you want to go.
Seek Alternative Leadership Roles: If finance clubs are a no-go, look for leadership opportunities in other organizations. Show that you're proactive and can take charge, whether it's in student government, sports, or any other group you're passionate about.
Network Like a Pro: Use your school's alumni network, LinkedIn, and any other resources at your disposal. Sometimes, who you know can open more doors than what club you're in.
Gain Practical Experience: Look for internships, part-time jobs, or volunteer work that can give you relevant skills. Even roles in small businesses or startups can be spun as valuable experience.
Self-Learning: Dive into finance books, online courses, and stay updated with market trends. Show that you're committed to learning about the industry on your own time.
Consider Other Clubs: If finance clubs are competitive, what about economics, business, or investment clubs? They can also provide relevant experience and networking opportunities.
Show Initiative: Start your own investment project or club. It demonstrates leadership, passion, and initiative – all great qualities for a future banker.
Remember, resilience is key in finance. Use this as an opportunity to show how you can overcome obstacles. Keep pushing forward, and don't let these rejections define your journey.
