Screw all the Canada haters

A lot of people have been shit posting Canada on this forum - many of them are juniors with no houses or family to their name who have never lived here and are full of copium

I am a VP Quant. - I make about a quarter CAD. I am 29 years old; so far in 2026:

1- My girlfriend of 3 years and I bought a 1900 sqft house in Midtown Toronto (She works as a Mech Eng at Bombardier, clears ~150K a year). My commute to the office is 35 minutes on the subway. The house was well under 1M USD.

2- I work 50 hours a week maximum, with most weeks averaging 42 hours

3- We are set to start having a family, and would ideally like 2-3 kids

4- We own a German SUV, and vacation in Europe/Dubai 4 times a year (25 PTO each)

5- I've been to over a dozen Michelin star restaurants and have done a lot of those bullshit "high dining" experiences although I'd much prefer a good bibimbap from Koreatown or a Haggis from the Scottish pub in the neighbourhood

6- If I did the same job from NYC/London/Tokyo I'd be alone and lonely, living in a 600 Sqft shoebox condo, and working 80 hour weeks (Even if at the same company)

7- Yes, I own nice watches too

If you're one of these shitposters - good job, you will most likely have no partner, kids, or anything worth it in life but some Instagram badges

Rakesh, this is your wife (who makes $150k at Bombardier). Quit shitposting on the internet, it’s past your bedtime. I packed some biryani for your lunch tomorrow. Get some sleep now.

People shit on Canada because the salaries are lower than elsewhere, but they don't factor that a house in the same neighbourhoods where some billionaires live costs 1.2M USD on average (Toronto) - less than your average condo in most major cities. Work hours are reasonable, and you can actually get married, have kids, go on vacation, and retire early. My point is: There's more to life than money

Homes in cities like DFW cost 1/3 the price of the ones in Toronto and the marriage and birth rates in the U.S. are way higher for young people than in CA. If you're happy with your life in Toronto, good for you. I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but posting this looks like a cope.

Imagine flexing a Dubai vacation. Your Instagram stories probably got so many flame emojis from high school friends!!! Sub-$185k USD doesn’t buy taste, I guess.

That is the most embarrassing retort ever lmao. Imagine bragging about being a “quant” and making sub-$185k USD. I know 22yo 1Y analysts at shit banks making substantially more than you.

Lmao this is not a flex dude. I'm a quant and grew up in Toronto half my life. Canada fucking sucks and they pay like shit. You might be the lowest paid quant but that's considered decent money in Toronto. Your whole post is cope. You tried some bad fine dining restaurants because you took some recommendations from other clueless people on tiktok and now you think all expensive food is overrated? Enjoy your hublot and volkswagen.
