Self Incriminating Posts

I’ve seen some posts here asking about how X bank’s Y group is doing, esp compared to other places, DESPITE the group & intern class is tiny (like maybe 3-6 per class). Why do people post if they can be ID’d so easily… Like now everyone knows one of the incoming interns is thinking about jumping ship…

I love doing detective work identifying which groups and what firms people are talking about.

Always funny to see kids writing posts about the teams they got placed into like 24 hours after the firm sent emails

I've even seen people further into their career dox themselves. They won't mention the bank and then in a reply in the comments forget all anonymity

Based on the most insightful WSO threads, posting self-incriminating content, especially in niche groups or small intern classes, is a risky move. When groups are small (e.g., 3-6 interns), it becomes much easier for others to identify who might be behind a post. This can lead to reputational damage, strained relationships within the group, or even jeopardizing future opportunities if word spreads that someone is considering leaving or expressing dissatisfaction.

The advice here is clear: keep sensitive thoughts offline. If you're contemplating a move or have concerns, it's better to discuss them discreetly with trusted mentors or colleagues rather than airing them publicly. Interns, in particular, should be cautious, as they are still building their professional reputation and network. Remember, finance is a small world, and word travels fast.

Interns are retarded, they can't help themselves.
