Self-Segregation by Race

Despite the melting pot and integration promoted by ways of education and the media, self segregation by race still holds true for the vast majority of Americans. many far right writers like Jared Taylor makes fair points that if you go into a cafeteria in universities, or if you look at the segregation by race in churches, or the kind of people you invite over for dinner, racial self-segregation has not changed much. Do you think racial segregation is innate in all humans and that it is healthy and natural or do you think it is caused by America's history and that it is an issue that is dissolving?

Obviously there still exist racial social stigmas (perhaps to a lesser degree), but unless you're willing to get into an influential position in life, and then softening race relations -- why bother thinking about it?

You're basically just whining if you don't plan to do anything about. And as far as I know, no one likes a whiner.

So do something about it, or forget about it.

Side point: Innate in all people? No. I was taught in class that people of different races (from white to black) lived peacefully together/traded during the Roman Republic/Empire. Romans had greek, etruscan and other white skinned slaves while they traded and allied with african countries peacefully. I believe they even conquered Africa at one point but allowed them to continue to govern their own nations out of respect...something like that. So if what my professor taught me is in fact true, then it's a fairly recent phenomenon.

Bro you really shouldn't give a shit (although now you have two to give) if a stranger on the internet throws virtual monkey shit at you.

It's interesting, I went to a poorer high school, and we were extremely integrated. I went to NYU - a supposedly progressive, liberal, and racially advanced bastion....and it was the most segregated on earth. Not only did asian kids stick with asian kids or jews with jews...it was christian koreans only hanging out with christian koreans, and russian jews only hanging out with russian jews. It was absolutely insane. I had a racialy diverse group of friends (mainly because we were all non-religious and no one was first generation american), but that was definitely an outlier.

I'd say life becomes less segregated when you start working, as you end up close with your coworkers who are of many different races. But ya, the complete racial segregation at top U.S. colleges really needs to be talked about more, it's absurd.
