Shoe thoughts

Wanting to splurge a little bit of my signing bonus on some shoes (currently only one Cole haans and vans). What is the best value for money and how have y’all’s experiences been with: - common projects - golden goose - rothys trainers - Beckett simonon trainers - Oliver cabell - vejas

Or are there any others recommended?

Huge fashion head. Had common projects, goldens, gucci, Loro piana: the works. It entirely depends on what your purpose is. Following is purpose and subsequent recommendation:

"chill shoes": golden goose over common project 100% but buy a crazy color/pattern. White shoes are fading out. Air force ones are disgustingly overworn/white shoes in general. Golden has great silvers/dark greens/ and fun patterns (cheetah etc). You might get shit for it from your hardo bros but its the best leather out there and respect all around for pushing the line on the color for shoes. Would not get common projects or vejas. Vejas absolutely not. Not in a million years.

formal: Loro Piana summer walks. Enough said. best of the best.

Avoid: gucci/balenci/Christian L.

Thank you for these insights really appreciate it.

Are common projects, Oliver cabell, koio or axel arigato really not worth spending? They’re priced $300? So it’s essentially spend the $500 or buy a decent shoe under $100…

Depends on what you're looking for/budget. Not like common projects are not made well but stylistically golden goose is more preferable. If you're looking for chill shoes go Golden goose. if that's out of the budget do common projects or hunt on ruelala or therealreal for mega deals on shoes

Re: casual shoes- Seconding GG. I've worn my GG for the last 6 months straight and absolutely thrashed them (rain, grass, sand). They still look great. Also, they haven't picked up any scent. 10/10 far better than common projects (if you don't think peers will think you're gaudy). Airforce are for teens and Vejas aren't anything special.

On guys, I personally don't prefer Golden Goose. It's perceived as more of a feminine brand (as women are usually the ones to wear it, anyway). If you're splurging out a little, Balenciaga speed trainers are ridiculously comfortable (but out of style, admittedly).
Comfort-wise, Nike Air Maxes (specifically the 1's) are my go-to right now, but not sure how much of a sneakerhead you are

I picked up a pair of the Common Projects recently and I'm not very impressed so far. The material and construction quality is good, but I find them rather uncomfortable to walk/stand in for anything longer than 30 min. Maybe it's just me, or maybe I need to break them in more, but I wouldn't recommend them. Curious if anyone else feels the same way.

Mine felt uncomfortable and tight at first, but after wearing them for about a week, they molded to the shape of my feet. Look better to me than Vejas and other similar knockoffs simply due to fit
