Dude, nobody wants to hang out with a guy who reads the Western canon and uses words like "blase" on an anonymous online forum.
And I don't follow... you supposedly "do not care what others think because you are very content in your own life," but yet here you are, on an anonymous Internet forum, complaining about your life to complete strangers and asking for their approval.

I should’ve also prefaced that I’m a woman lol... but I’m just saying why isn’t finance more impressed by meritocratic achievements? Is it because we’re all in the same place now and there need to be different ways to mark status?
was thinking about this (on a personal level) the other day. I think it has to do with measurability. It's easy to track how "well" you're doing in your career. There's salary, title, the company you work for, etc.
Its easier to track then something like how good of a person you are, or to measure your social life, or whatever else.
