Side Hussles

I'm in CRE lending and from where I sit it is going to be a very slow 24. Have solid job security so not worried about getting canned.

Wanting to start a side hustle in something non RE. Have a couple ideas but wanted to see if others are working on anything or have any ideas.

Thanks in advance.

Based on previous WSO threads, it's not uncommon for those in commercial real estate (CRE) lending to consider side hustles, especially during slower periods. Here are a few ideas that have been floated around by others in the industry:

  1. Stock Portfolio Management: As seen in the context, some individuals have managed to build up significant stock portfolios. This could be a viable side hustle if you have a strong understanding of financial markets and investing.

  2. Consulting: If you have a particular expertise within CRE lending, you might offer consulting services to smaller firms or startups that could benefit from your knowledge.

  3. Education/Coaching: You could create content or courses, or provide coaching services related to CRE lending, finance, or other areas where you have expertise.

  4. E-commerce: Starting an online business or dropshipping could be a way to generate income without being directly related to real estate.

  5. Technology Solutions: If you have a knack for tech, developing an app or software that addresses a niche problem in the industry could be lucrative.

Remember, the key to a successful side hustle is finding something that you're passionate about, that doesn't conflict with your main job, and ideally complements your skill set. It's also important to consider the time commitment and how it fits with your current workload.
