Silver Bananas - automatic?

What’s the deal here? There’s no way this is always someone else behind the screen shooting these out. I get them almost instantly after posting something to a thread; what’s the point if you aren’t limiting them to actually only when a user targets your post?

I’m pretty sure they aren’t automatic. There should always be a user clicking them on the other end.

I do not think this is 100% true.  It has not happened lately, there was short period of time, in which I received multiple silver bananas immediately after hitting reply to comment.  There is no way someone could read and react so quickly.

I noticed that too for a reply I made once, it was pretty weird.

I think most are user-based but I have also experienced getting SBs the SECOND you post something. There's no way anyone is that fast.

Maybe high % SB users are given more automatically, who knows

I have actually suspected something similar myself over the past year. Definitely causing silver banana inflation! Sometimes it is just 1 SB but usually it is 2-3 very shortly after I make a longer post. Even happens at really odd hours of the day/night. I’m not opposed to the practice, but it did catch me off guard at first.
