Spanish Baddie

I have decided to move to Spain for 10 weeks next year. I think I will finally find wifey material in Spain and really the only down side is that lame "th" accent. I'm dropping the "th" accent if I'm in Mexico or Argentina.

Heard the same thing, but it's much lower for practicing Catholics in Spain.

If you're planning to move to Spain for 10 weeks, here's what you should keep in mind:

  1. Cultural Adaptation: Spain has a rich and diverse culture, and understanding regional differences is key. For example, the "th" accent you're referring to is called ceceo or distinción, and it's common in many parts of Spain, especially in central and northern regions. While it might sound different to you, embracing local nuances can help you connect better with people.

  2. Language: While Spanish is spoken across Spain, regional languages like Catalan, Galician, and Basque are also prevalent in specific areas. If you're in regions like Catalonia or the Basque Country, showing respect for these languages can go a long way.

  3. Social Norms: Spaniards are known for their relaxed and social lifestyle. Be prepared for late dinners, long siestas, and a vibrant nightlife. Building relationships often involves spending time in social settings like tapas bars or plazas.

  4. Finding "Wifey Material": Relationships in Spain, like anywhere else, are built on mutual respect and understanding. While you might be drawn to the idea of finding a partner, focus on genuine connections rather than stereotypes or expectations.

  5. Accent Preferences: If you're planning to travel to Mexico or Argentina later, you can adapt your Spanish accordingly. However, while in Spain, embracing the local accent and dialect will show respect and help you integrate better.

Enjoy your time in Spain—immerse yourself in the culture, food, and language, and you'll have an unforgettable experience!

Niceeee...what cities are you hitting up?

I’ll be in Valencia and traveling around Europe as well. I previously have lived in Valencia for 6 months and loved it.

Good Call - Spain is super nice if you have cash/investments outside the country. Valencia / Marbella are great options for lifestyle , for food I would recommend San Sebastian and Pamplona
