Get a set of used irons on fb marketplace/ebay, there's some great value to be found on there instead of spending £700-1k on a brand new set as a beginner. Would do the same for a putter and driver as well. Then book a coaching session or two with a pro at a driving range - these tend to be fairly inexpensive and will be well worth it as it takes a long time to really grasp the mechanics of a golf swing, and having someone to point out what you're doing wrong should speed up the process a bit.

Swinging into the world of golf, are we? That's fantastic! Golf can be a great way to network and enjoy some leisure time. Here are a few tips to get started economically in London:

  1. Equipment: You don't need to buy the most expensive clubs right off the bat. Consider buying used clubs or even renting them until you're sure you want to invest more into the sport.

  2. Courses: Look for public courses or driving ranges to practice. They're usually more affordable than private clubs.

  3. Lessons: While professional lessons can be beneficial, they can also be pricey. Consider starting with free online tutorials and tips. Once you've got the basics down, then you might consider a few professional lessons to refine your technique.

  4. Etiquette: Remember, golf isn't just about the game. It's also about the etiquette. Know where to stand, when to talk, the order/pace of play, and how long to look for a ball.

  5. Networking: Believe it or not, I've met some bankers through social events that had nothing to do with a recruitment process. So, golf could be a great way to network in a big city like London.

Remember, the goal is to enjoy the game without breaking the bank. Swing away, my friend!
