Summaries of business books

Hey all,

although I have already graduated, I plan on educating myself further on some topics which I might have missed out in college or reread stuff I already forgot. I am keen on both, the typical university textbooks and also common business books like the McKinsey Way.

As I don't want to spend huge amounts of time to read 500 page books for 5 take-aways, I would prefer a condensed summary (1-10 pages).

Unfortunately google didn't bring up much. Does anybody have a good side for business book summaries?

I'd suggest reading the original stuff, I can't see someone culling down something like Security Analysis to 10 pages, or even something like malcolm gladwell or jack welch to something that small while doing it justice. if you're looking for a couple pages of 1-10 lists, go to facebook or buzzfeed.

sorry to be harsh, but you've got to be willing to put in the effort to do some of this stuff. if you get into finance, do you think there's a summary of a 10k? of a bond indenture? I'm not saying 100% of this stuff is valuable, but it's still important you read things in their entirety, even if it's a speed read.

I agree that many textbooks can't be summarized in 10 pages. But do you always read through the whole 10k to get some financials?

By accident I found a good summary of The Lean Startup on the net. Such a book can be easily summarized and it saved me hours of reading through the self-adulation of the author to get the key ideas from the book. In the end, many authors have 5-10 ideas and stretch them over 300 pages. Some other books are really not worth the time at all. If I like a summary I can still read the whole book to get more details. And in the end, nobody remembers the whole book anyway but only the main ideas of the author.

I knew about getAbstract but wasn't sure if it is worth the money. I might give it a try.

P.S. I hate Buzzfeed and refrain from clicking on these links ;)
