supercar experience - advice?

alright WSO, as you can probably guess, I'm way too cheap to buy or lease a nice car, but at the same time I'm a huge fan of good engineering, love the grand tour, and have had the itch to do a supercar experience before.

I'm guessing some of you have as well, and I'd be willing to travel (even to Italy if I get to drive a performante) for some of these but as you know, many of them come around various cities in the USA. so, has anyone done one of these? how was the experience? would you recommend it?

let me know, thanks!

I’ve had friends do some here in the UK, unfortunately they never let you drive the cars too hard, but let their drivers take you on a hot lap driving the cars properly. They’ve driven an F430, 458, Gallardo, R8 and a GTR on various tracks.

I’ll be tracking my car (981 Cayman GTS) in the summer and tracked my old car (987 Cayman S) a couple of times which was loads of fun.

Bro, I'm assuming you can drive stick. (there's a gay joke in there somewhere but the kid I slept with Tuesday couldn't drive period, so don't take it at face value)  In the Miata community there's a saying "If you can't go fast with 90hp 900 isn't gonna help ya." Just drop $3k on an old miata. I was playing tag with a V12 vanquish and a 997 Turbo on the parkway once.  I was balls to the wall at 120, They were scared to put the pedal down.  (I loved that car, and we won't talk about the songs I blew out speakers listening to-Bittersweet Symphony on the GWB was the cool story)

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.

Slamming a perfect 2-3 at 75 is pure joy.

Yeah man I can drive stick, I have a hard time believing a Miata is as fun as a huracán or Ferrari 488 though

lolololol riiiight

The Hennessy Venom GT would be INSANE to drive on the track.

“On January 21, 2013, the Venom GT set a Guinness World Record for the fastest road legal car from 0–186 mph (0–300 km/h) with an average acceleration time of 13.63 seconds.2 In addition, the car set an unofficial record for 0–200 mph (0–322 km/h) acceleration at 14.51 seconds, beating the Koenigsegg Agera R's time of 17.68 seconds, making it the unofficial fastest accelerating road legal car in the world.34

The new Venom F5 looks sick too, but sadly you most likely won’t find these as rentals at the track.

I had a great experience driving a Ferrari 488 in Las Vegas at Exotics Racing and would definitely recommend it. Their instructors really let you get after it and are just there to ensure you don't put it in the wall. Looks like they have some cool packages where you can spend the day driving all of their supercars, and I would also recommend doing the drift ride along as well as riding with one of the professionals in the Ferrari to really feel what it's capable of.

If you want real "driving expereince" you aren't going to find it in a pre-determined route with someone regulating/directing you in the passenger seat.  Rent a "fast and fun" car off Turo in a city near mountain roads and spend the whole weekend exploring for the same cost of a couple hours on a parking lot track in Vegas.

If you haven't driven a 600+ hp car before you aren't going to get half of the performance out of a Huracan or 488. You're going to short shift to 120mph, brake early, and think you're hot shit because of the burble tuned exhaust behind your seat.  Rent a 2011 M3, actually push it to its limits on a curvy road with elevation change, and you'll have way more fun.

+1 to buying a cheap and fun car (miata).  Life is too short to not smile as you're getting from A to B
