seamless, google maps?
First, you must cleanse yourself through the ancient practice of Misogi. You must put on a Japanese loincloth, and go to a waterfall to plunge yourself beneath its ice-cold waters. You must continue to chant the phrase "harai tamae kiyome tamae rokkon shōjō" over and over again. As your senses are immersed in a sensation of overwhelming cold, you will be cleansed of your six human elements.
After you emerge from the waterfall, spiritually rejuvenated, you may then pull out your iPhone and say "Hey Siri, find me a good sushi place in New York."
Only then will you know the truth.
OMG
Never expected to come across this. Tried it but all I get is a frozen toe.
Dope!
I've tried every AYCE sushi spot in Chicago and a lot in the NW 'burbs AMA
Who has the best AVOCADO sushi?
Sushi Para on Milwaukee Also Sushi Grove in the NW 'burbs (Buffalo Grove). Get the rice tea too.
Asking for help finding sushi in NYC is like asking for help finding coffee shops in Seattle.
Try Sushi Yasuda, 43rd St, between 2nd & 3rd. Best I've been to, out of 100+.
best sushi in nyc (Originally Posted: 03/30/2007)
thoughts? this one is actually serious...for offbeat stuff I like Gari...straight ahead/traditional and Kuruma Zushi is the spot.
megu is awesome. i also like koi (even though they have tons of cooked food too and are more "asian fusion.")
Thanks Dav, never been to either of those...have hit Gari,Seki, Yasuda, Kuruma, Masa,Ushiwakamaru, Jewel Bako (which is also awesome).
Still looking for a decent place here in london if anyone has suggestions...
Masa?? Who paid?
brokers. but kuruma is as expensive.
interesting. i actually just went to the website and had no idea they offered a la carte at the bar..i'll have to try that sometime. i thought they only offered a prix fixe $500 per person meal.
megu is also pretty expensive as well (by my standards at least). also, apparently a morimoto (iron chef morimoto) opened in nyc this past summer. the morimoto in philly (where i'm a senior in college) is really good.
i think masa is only 350/pp, but i've never paid there. kuruma was about 350/pp
been to morimoto, decent but nothing to write home about.
Nobu is not bad either-has a lot of really good non-sushi dishes as well.
yeah..nobu isn't really a sushi place but it's fun. been to the one in miami, but not in nyc
The best bang for your buck is hands down Yuka on 2nd ave at 81st street... Its a hidden gem
Haru is mediocre
Sushi Anna in Midtown is very good - but very expensive
i've only been to Yasuda...i think on 43rd. It's good food and value for money too. I've had quite a bit of sushi in chicago, but this one is right up there... as close to best as it can get in my book
try karuma sometime gautam...it's amazing but will set you back like 2x yasuda or gari,
ive read reviews for kuruma. will hopefully go there some day (read when the wallet can afford)...;)
also Blue Ribbon Sushi. It's been a fave of mine for a bit now, and last I went, it was still good.
I second Blue Ribbon in SoHo. Good sushi at a (somewhat) reasonable price.
For $500pp, you would expect to get a Japanese virgin, freshly imported.
Do most sushi places have toro often?
would second the yuka.
fresh from the number of customers and $20 all you can eat.
