taking up smoking

as an investment banking analyst, is it a good idea to start smoking to deal with the stress of being in the office all time, constant deadlines, etc. It might be addicting but, hey, you can always quit once you go to the buy side right when the stress goes down?

The stupidest thing I have ever heard off. I know too many people trying to quit they never do. In US you may be lucky or unlucky that smokes are cheaper than in Australia but the amount of money wasted on something so stupid is not worth it. Cause then everytime you stress you will want to smoke more. Life will just get more and more stressful. So you will literally let your job kill you and your health. phew /end of rant.

tldr..? DON'T DO IT... we love you

"Cluelessfromoz" The stupidest thing I have ever heard off.

How stupid do you mean though? Like critiquing someone else for being stupid without proper grammar - yeah definitely stupid all across the board here.

GoodBreadMarlboro Reds are the most prestigious to the layman but anyone in the business knows that Davidoff is for true BSDs.

100% agree. Davidoff's are great cigarettes.

With that said, what the fuck man? Don't start smoking. I've been smoking for 6 years and I'm just starting to cut down, hopefully to quit soon. Don't be an idiot and start smoking to 'relieve stress'. Because it doesn't.

Agree on the Davidoffs, too bad they're an extra $3 per pack. And I just passed the 6 year mark, hoping I can quit before I turn 25

Yes your analysis is spot-on. DO IT DO IT DO IT

I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

No way. You don't want to die from lung cancer, heart attack etc. from smoking. It's NOT easy to quit. I've seen people who just can't.

Two words: nicotine patches. Steady dose keeps you awake all day without getting jittery or having to step out to smoke. Plus, nicotine by itself is not really addictive.

I know blastoise is trolling, but just to put this in perspective:

Smokes cost $6.50/pack here (which some would consider pretty cheap), or $4.75/pack if you buy two at a time. Last year I spent $1,500 on cigarettes. In the 6 years I've been smoking, I've probably spent around $6k-$7k. And that's not even a tenth of the cost of the hospital bills for when I get lung/throat cancer

I know your joking but to kids who might read this and start thinking about smoking...don't start. I smoke and I can't quit. Cigs are horrible...

happypantsmcgeeWhy would you smoke when you could dip?

Why would you dip when you can chew?

The man makes a good point

Camels, then Marijuana, then Crack. See what works for you.

None of them are addicting, unless you have an addictive personality.

ok, we need a ranking for smokes..

i love parliament but it is not easy to find where i live. Davidoff are ok. Hate Camel. I will quit once I leave where I live, everyone smokes in here. I smoke about 2 cigarrettes a day, and when i party i smoke many many more, about 15 in a span of 3 or 4 hours

It's always a good idea to start smoking, until you want to stop.
