Question
Your senior banker has three cubes on his desk and every month, he rearranges them so that the faces show the current month's three letter abbreviation: JAN, FEB, MAR, APR, MAY, JUN, JUL, AUG, SEP, OCT, NOV, DEC. What letters are on the faces of the cubes?
Note: The abbreviation does not necessarily have to be in caps as shown above, nor does it have to be in a particular font.
Good Luck!
If each face can only display one letter, this would be impossible to do. There is 19 unique letters and only 18 unique spots on the 3 cubes.
And if the faces can have multiple letters on them, then you could just put at least one blank on each cube, and then fill in the faces with the corresponding months, so that on the first cube it could be Blank, Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May. Second Cube Blank, Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep, Oct. Third cube Blank Nov, Dec, Blank, Blank, Blank
In October and December, just flip the cube with a U on its side. Don't have time to figure out which letters go on each cube but that's my guess.
I guess that's what he meant by doesn't have to be in a particular font because that will be a stupid looking C!
It makes sense to have the U and C be the repeating letter. But I get into a contradiction in which both the U and the C are in the same block as the letter A. This makes it not valid since the A and the U can't be on the same block (if they were, you couldn't for AUG). In other words, the repeating letter can't be the U and the C. I need to find another pair of similar looking fonts.
Where's the A?
Block 1. I forgot to put it in there. I only put 5 letters in that one for whatever reason :(
