The Changing Economy and Industry Trends
Where do you guys see industry trends going in the next 5-10 years? I can't help but to see the tides are changing. Back in the 70's, 80's, and 90's; the era of people like Blankfein and Romney, the elite positions were in the middleman services industry like banking, law, and consulting. While these are still top careers to start out with for young grads, the tides seem to be changing dramatically. This seems to be the entrepreneurial generation, with top talent headed into tech startups and carving their own path. Engineers now make more than financiers, and coding is the language of the future. What do you guys think? People like Alexis Ohanian have been saying that the middle man is being wiped out, with the most obvious example has been the Hollywood movie studios with the rise of Youtube and Netflix, and that the future no longer belongs to the middle man, but builders.
