The Joneses

I saw this trailer a few days ago and thought it was a pretty interesting premise. A marketing corporation inserts four actors pretending to be a family into a suburban neighborhood to entice the neighbors to buy products through the manipulation of their envy. It's a riff on "keeping up with the Joneses", and I have a feeling it's going to be timely (and biting) satire. Enjoy:

Ha, wow what a great concept.

I love the irony of product placement in a movie premised on selling materialism to unknowing people so dizzy with empty one-up-manship they don't even know they're being pupetteered.

Looks like a great movie.

Agreed, I'll definitely see this when it comes out.

Audi's were cool in the Transporter series, Iron Man, and Hitman, but now they're just overdoing it.

Audi was cool.... back in the 80's when they were battling Renault and Peugeot in Group B rally. Now they are just building mediocre road cars that only appeal to the sheep who know next to nothing about a proper driver’s car. Even yet, their sports proto-type program has done little in reestablishing Audi as a legitimate brand to the real driving enthusiasts… typical commercialism.

And I digress.

I disagree Brian. With cars like the RS5 and R8 V12 TDI, I think Audi is producing better sport vehicles for the driving enthusiast than Mercedes or BMW are nowadays.

A point of view:

A true driver’s car does not include AWD... period. If you went the track with an AWD car you would get shunned by the local drivers. Sports GT's were always meant to be RWD without any of these fancy electronic systems to lure buyers; just simplistic, lightweight, and a proper gearbox. This whole AWD thing Audi has going has become something of a shtick. Auto Union started out hardcore with a great history in pre-war grand prix cars and 80s rally cars... they've now truly sold out their image with the VAG takeover/domination*. The only thing Audi has to be taken serious is their multi-championship LMP1 program and the R8 LMS at the 24 Hours of the Ring. To any hardcore fan of motorsports, they would say that Audi was one of the greats that simply fell hard come the 90's.

Audi are really getting annoying. Especially with their relentless OMG WE ARE AUDI BMW IS BAD!!11 Alright we get it, you're getting pwned by BMW. Now **** off.
