The Juul Phenomenon: How many people you know are using it?

Was browsing the finance meme accounts on instagram and noticing that a majority of the posts/stories involve Juuls. How common is their usage really in finance? Do your coworkers actually use it - and were they cigarette smokers before they started vaping?

It’s actually insane that you mention this - three people on my desk have them and there are a bunch more on the floor who I’ve seen using them. If the Juul’s target audience is urban yuppies, they seem to have hit the bullseye.

My high school brother and his friends are super into them. He just got suspended for using it in class. It's just a regular ass e-cig. I have no idea what they're on about.

On a related note, I got a G-Pen Pro yesterday and it sucks. Might try a Firefly 2. Am I doing weed vapes wrong or do they just suck compare to smoking?

There are some good ones out there. I tried one last week that was really strong.

Was it handheld? I've had 3 vapes now - one desktop - and they all are just a waste of weed. But I haven't tried the $500+ ones.

I don't know where to get any, dude. I've only ever hit a rig or a nail or whatever once. Somewhat ironically, this was at the house of a couple I'd stop by and sell an ounce to every Friday like 4 years ago. I don't know dick about that shit. I'd also really love a source for clean edibles. Ideally just like some coconut oil or olive oil with weed. Can't wait for pot to be legal so I can just buy some like an adult. I'm not cool anymore bro I don't know any drug dealers

Edit: OK so wait, can you confirm that I can stop wasting money buying incrementally more expensive vapes if I'm not gonna use oil?

I have a G-Pen Elite. My tolerance is super low bc I barely use it but you generally start on 320-350ish F and work your way up to 400. Make sure your screen is cleaned (that's the biggy), and that you stir your herb (has to be really ground) here and there.

Shit, I think I've gotta clean the screen every bowl then. And those bowls are tiny. Mine is probably half the size of yours. What a pain in the dick.

I think I figured out my coughing issue. I think I've been spending too much time in the sauna. I've been sitting in there at 200F for like 45 min a day. The smoking probably isn't helping, but I think it might be largely the sauna use. I'm gonna try a. Going down to every other day and b. Finishing off with 5 min in the steam room to rehydrate my lungs.

This thread has been very informational.

Literally half of my analyst/associate pool smoke JUULs. I have one that I smoke occasionally as well since I'm quitting smoking cigarettes (Parliament and Lucky Strike have collectively received at least 1 years bonus from me over the past 10 years). I sometimes catch the younger guys ducking into empty conference rooms to rip their JUUL which is funny to me so I don't say anything to them.

Since I am older than 30, absolutely no one. Seems to be big with college kids though.

Recently got back from Europe and the two guys I roll with have pretty much converted from cigs to the Juul. Pretty funny, over there they’ve heard about the juul, but rarely do you see one in person. Random people would come up to us at the bar or on the street, “hey man is that the juul?” Met some great people that way surprisingly lol.

Yeah the entire JUUL story is insane... the product launched in Canada not too long ago and I'm already seeing them everywhere. I'm not currently a smoker so trying to resist the urge to purchase, but lots of colleagues/friends that I know are hooked.

Anyone ever try some of the non-nicotine vaping solutions out there? I've been experimenting with caffeine inhalers b/c I'm looking for a healthy alternative to crushing coffees and red bulls all the time. Most of the brands that I've tried sucked but this one, https://eagle.energy/</a">Eagle Energy, actually works IMO. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Not an issue in moderation but if you're slamming multiple a day (especially if loaded with cream and sugar) if can have adverse side-effects. For example, a common issue that people run into is dependency i.e. skip a coffee = sluggish / tired and even headaches. Obviously, this would be on the extreme end of the spectrum but a high-sugar diet can also lead to Type 2 Diabetes.

I have a few colleagues that use it in their late 20's, never smoked cigs.

Personally I was sucking down a pod a day in the last two weeks to the CFA. Since then I put it in a box.. in my closet... waiting for the last month before Level 2 to break it back out.

Yeah it's pretty popular. I know some people who are running through 2-4 pods a day. Real money drainer, might as well just smoke the real thing.

I fully believe that nicotine consumption trends will come full circle. Cigarette consumption among high schoolers will increase tenfold by 2020.

Doubtful, the convenience of being able to use a Juul discreetly almost anywhere is priceless. Not smelling like cigarette smoke and being less harmful compared to cigs is a bonus as well.

I think we both may have missed where the next method of nicotine consumption may come from. One can be discrete, and not cause a noticeable smell using chaw. Bankers will soon be packing fat lips as they head into the office.
