Too soon to tell: while people in this circumstance are formally being tried for violating security clearance, the merits of WHY they did this are the determining factor. Typically, the FAS crowd is more interested in good policy and steers clear of controversy, so Steven Aftergood speaking on the issue indicates that this is going to be a tough one. The gov't is REALLY pissed at this guy, and I'm curious how Obama is going to handle it.

It's already shaping up to be pretty explosive, so I'm watching. Espionage vs civil liberties cases are usually pretty nasty, but also VERY interesting!

unfortunately, he'll probably quietly be silenced. they all lay down, resistance is futile. no action will ever be taken to a court against the US. have you ever seen that movie "the international"? well that movie pretty much hits this head on....

Not sure I follow: in real life, BCCI was shut down and the Pentagon Papers got published. High level intelligence whistleblowers who go public are too visible to be silenced: look at Assange. More likely he does a nominal amount of prison time and writes a book when he comes out.....

The title of this thread made me think of a shitty childrens book
