The Struggle of Landing an Internship

Hey everyone,

I wanted to take a moment to share my thoughts on a topic that's been weighing on me lately. It's disheartening to see my friends effortlessly secure internships at top-notch MNCs while I've been facing countless rejections despite my best efforts. It's not about envy, but rather the frustration and self-doubt that creep in. The feeling of being left behind is tough, but I know persistence is key. If any of you have been through a similar situation or have any advice, I'd greatly appreciate your insights.

Thanks for lending an ear!

Well the strategy is either your parents/their friends/close relatives work in senior positions at these firms and can get your foot into the door.

If this isn't the case then what you can do is in 1st year undergrad try a low tier firm or a startup, in your second year try a higher tier corporate/consulting firm and so on. The way this works is that most people think about internships in the year before graduation but by doing this you can build a network and have more experience than others to land top internships in your final year.

Also graduating for a target school and having good grades helps.

And also don’t be disheartened by the rejections, in my case i applied to hundreds of roles to get the ones that i ended up doing. (But off-course nobody knows how f**ked it was getting rejected all those times, they only see the final result right!? 😉)

As motivation try reading up on the “growth mindset”.

My profile- Masters from target school, pretty average gpa for bachelors and masters, 3 internships, final year interned at a VC and got my first job (before even writing my final university exams) at Google.
