Several users on this forum are basically just spamming outright racist BS or completely worthless responses. Any chance this can get cleaned up? Feel like discussion quality is noticeably worse than ~2 years ago.
The weird incel posts are pretty rough too. Although the occasional one is incredibly funny.
Majority of the userbase are literally teenagers, or in college. Not much you can do about it. The older and verified users don’t come here anymore

Yeah but in that case, I want the ability to mute the spammers. It's just weird/not funny troll accounts. Like the accounting guy a few years ago or the random other guy posting about tech being superior to everything here. On Twitter/FB/Linkedin you can curate by muting/unfollowing etc, but can't do it here. Pretty normal functionality for forums but I know this is a tough stack to work with as everything is custom.
I understand the sentiment but it got really bad these last couple of days. There was literally a user cheering on the buffalo murderer, wishing he had killed more people, calling him a hero and saying he should get a Purple Heart / Iron Cross for his bravery. It was unclear if he was just trolling or is seriously fanatical. It looks like the posts have since been removed, but this went way beyond free speech. I’m generally for people being able to share almost any idea, but it can become a problem when people are allowed to do it completely anonymously.
lol you act like the spam hes talking about is good discussions with each side hearing each other out. The kind of "discourse" that goes on here is only more divisive, and definitely isnt solving any bad discourse.

Notwithstanding the trolls as OP mentions, which is a legitimate concern, these forums are also littered with actual spam/scammers that somehow make it past the moderators. There are multiple spam posts on the trading forum at this very moment that I reported this morning, but alas they are still up. I see multiple posts every day promoting everything from the latest crypto coin that nobody has heard of to escorts and drugs. Wish that would at least be clean up.
That’s very strange… I almost never see these sorts of posts. As I understand it, once a post has received multiple flags, it gets hidden from users until a moderator checks it out. In the case of people who receive a ton of flags/MS, I believe all of their posts get hidden until moderator review. Could be wrong though as I’m not 100% sure how the system works.
JG_wentworth is right, I see them a lot too. Sometimes they get quite a few replies from people on here and nobody realizes it's a bot/spam.

Composition of the userbase of this website has fundamentally changed. Handful of trolls routinely post extremist incel bullshit here and a large percentage of actual posters here now unironically agree with it. Not much to be done.
Can you provide some specifics? I've only ever seen one-offs (ie. bottombuckethardo etc.) and that guy consistently gets MSd so I dont think the problem is endemic
