Because we cease to exist at death, to the best of our empirical knowledge. What is this boomer question even trying to imply.
Why not love them beyond that point?
Because that’s necrophilia.
It’s “till death do us part.”
Death does part us, but we can hope that we might find one another in the Great Choir. So, in a sense, our love is just one part of the One Love, and to that, it returns.

There are many different types of love. Romantic love doesn't exist in heaven, according to Christianity. But there is still agape (godly) love and philos (brotherly) love.
In the West, marriage has traditionally been a Christian ceremony. According to Jesus, there is no marriage relationship in heaven. The marriage ends at death.
