Tinder meets LinkedIn

I recently read an article on WSJ about a new app LinkedUp

If your LinkedIn profile can help you find a job, then why not a date?

That’s the idea behind LinkedUp!, a new networking app for those who want to ensure their next match is gainfully employed before they meet for drinks.

Max Fischer, the 28-year-old founder of the app and a former investment banker, said he believes the LinkedIn data “is going to result in much higher-quality matches.” Because a LinkedIn profile is essentially a digital résumé, “people get a really true sense of where someone’s from, what they do, and where they went to school, which are the main questions people ask in terms of dating,”

I think we can all admit that being in finance automatically makes you judgmental of people's background because everyone strives to get in the top Ivey league school, top BB IBD/PE/HF. What do you monkeys think of this app?

Finally, another metric to compare Banks/ Groups! I hear that Goldman TMT places best inside the secretaries but if you're ultimately trynna fuck your boss's wife MS M&A is still the way to go.

They don't call it MS M&A for nothing

Someone recently said linkedin is the new Facebook. I think they were right

I'm talking about liquid. Rich enough to have your own jet. Rich enough not to waste time. Fifty, a hundred million dollars, buddy. A player. Or nothing. See my Blog & AMA

It actually is. I deleted my Facebook account a long time ago, and I'm now posting/sharing my scuba diving photos on my linkedin!

This looks like a great way to meet gold diggers,

HRs everywhere are gonna have a field day with this. Compliance departments too. They have enough headaches to worry about with all the heightened disclosure and transparency requirements as it is. Imagine the kind of conflict of interest scenarios that may arise from such a venue like this. I wonder how long will it take after the official launch will this guy start getting letters from financial service companies, Fortune 500 etc demanding he deletes all the user accounts that are their employees.

Also the guy hired a friend to program this app for him. This is usually a bad idea for tech startup founders. You need to be in control of your own technology and knows its technical aspects inside and out.

Too late for second-guessing Too late to go back to sleep.

I think with a few tweaks and a public/private filter for messages (aka "Tweets"), OkCupid, or ideally a new site, could become huge. Take all the best pieces from different sites and make a new one, and better yet-- what if there was a dating site that worked like Hotwire or something where it scanned ALL the dating sites' databases with filters?

Working in tech has ruined me.

Yeah, there should just be one big site/app combo. Tinder, LinkedIn, Yelp, OkCupid, Spotify, Gmail, Instragram, Snapchat, Amazon, Facebook, etc.

Honestly, when I'm reading someone's Yelp review, I want the ability to swipe left or right.

Another mutant Wall Street has created but hey, maybe the app is getting bought for a couple m in a year or so...

This reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where Jerry points out that men don't care about what a woman does for work--"Oh you're a butcher? So, are you available Friday night?"--but that women have to respect what a man does for a living.

I see this as a way to give a man--maybe a guy who is a little shorter or fatter than average--a leg up with a group of women who do care about a man's ambitions. However, I would assume 95+% of men will not care about what a woman does for a living.

Wait so the shallow people will look for economic equals, while the normal majority will stick to eharmoney and match, which basically is entirely based on physical appearance. I don't know about you but the later sounds way more shallow than the former. At the end of the day all dating is shallow in the initial phase. Lets not try to make this sound worse than it or anything else out there really is.
