Tips on Summer housing for SA in NYC?

Going to be working at a BB in NYC, office near/in Times Square. Have one roommate definitely planning on living with me, and one other as a maybe, so it'll be two or three people.

Might be a stupid question, but I could use tips on the best ways to look for summer housing, when to do it, etc. Haven't ever gotten an apartment before so I'm new to the process.

Ideally want to be as close as possible to the office, and am okay spending a pretty high amount on rent compared to the standard for interns as I've worked all throughout college and have about $40k saved up anyways in my Roth and PA, so not too worried about saving as much as possible this summer.

Any tips or common mistakes to avoid would be great!
