Top 40 Entrepreneurs Under 30

Someone sent me a link to this list of the Top 40 Entrepreneurs Under 30 and I thought I'd pass it along to you guys. This kind of thing has always fascinated me, and I think it is easier for young people to knock one out of the park today than it ever has been in our country's history. I base that assumption on the fact that the Internet has vastly lowered the barriers to entry that exist today, by the way.

The list has the predictable weighting of Internet whiz kids, but there are a few outliers like Perez Hilton, Angelo Sotira, and David Levich who merely used the Net as a means of delivery. Teenagers are well represented on the list by Matt Wegrzyn (age 19 - $1 million), Ashley Qualls (age 17 - $4 million), and sibling act Catherine & David Cook (ages 17 & 19 - $10 million). Mark Zuckerberg, creator of Facebook, tops the list with $700 million at age 23.

Something that may surprise a lot of you is the fact that many on the list either dropped out of college or never attended college at all. That's a whole separate list (The Most Successful College Dropouts in History) but I think it makes the critical point that creativity often trumps education.

Heading into the new year, is anyone planning to take the leap?

Hold on a sec...you mean they made all this money without doing IB --> PE --> HBS --> PE --> God?

How is this possible?!?!?!!??

Anyway. I'd like to take the leap at some point, as I'm sure many people would as well. After doing this for a few years, I think it'd be nice to go out and take some risk.

Went to high school with one of them...

Amazing how some ideas (not always the best) just take off. Good for them.
