Do what you want and don't worry about what anyone else thinks. You think about yourself more than anyone else thinks about you. Your accomplishments should be celebrated. If you're a decent person, your network should be full of people who are supportive of you and wish for your success. Maybe don't write an essay about how you're humble to be humble.
Why wouldn't you update your LinkedIn on your first day? You literally work there now...
