Volunteering - NYC

I'm a soon to be first year analyst in NYC at a fairly well known shop. I'm pretty excited to start in July, but one of the things I was wondering if any analysts or junior bankers here have had time to put in volunteer work, even if its just an hour or two a week.

I've done volunteer work throughout HS/college, and would like to keep it up, but also figure it would be a good way to meet other young people. Even though I grew up in NJ, I went to the school in the Midwest, and would like another outlet to meet people (outside work/bars etc).

I know most people get crushed their first year, and I had the pleasure of doing my SA in a pretty bad group (both deal flow/hour wise), however, as I am going to a different bank (which has really good hours/lifestyle), I was hoping some volunteering would be possible.

Any inputs/insights would be appreciated - thanks in advance

Honestly just pick an issue/ailment.

I have done local poverty, blood, Parkinsons, breast cancer, and children sponsorship.

Anything that has ever bothered or affected you. I walk by a Cerebral Palsy Center twice a wk and it kills me I havent gone in yet. (23rd and Lex I believe)

J.Thanks commuter,

Is there a website or resource you use to find the meetings or events? Most seem to be either purely monetary donations or weekly during the day commitments.
