Want to start Finance/Consulting club

Hi folks,

I want to open a finance/consulting related club in my college. The college where I study strangely doesn't have any business clubs, the only clubs are politics, volunteering related. Beside having a legitimate reason showing my interest in finance and consulting, I just to open this club. Need advice regarding how a club should be structured, what type of a club should it be. What types of activities each finance, consulting related club usually conduct? What type of business clubs are out there, in general?

Appreciate any kind of help.

This is a great opportunity to be a founder of a club and put that on your resume.

I was in a finance and investment club in college and we had an advisor on faculty who helped us fly to NYC and stay for free and we met with various alumni in NYC - it was a great trip.

Appreciate your output to most of my posts. Can you please elaborate what type of activities was there in the club?

We just talked about business and finance. This was pre WSO, so a lot of the banter on this site was similar to our discussions. You could probably structure meetings with a certain topic and then an open discussion, possibly followed by a social with beers.

I agree with the poster above saying to model your club after somewhat notable organizations at other schools. My university did that and it worked better than forming something from scratch. I would say that you need to have a decent vision about what you want the club to be beforehand though. For example, do you want the club to be more of a student investment org or a society that prepares kids for banking?

I’m a fun guy. Obviously I love the game of basketball. I mean there’s more questions you have to ask me in order for me to tell you about myself. I'm not just gonna give you a whole spill... I mean, I don't even know where you're sitting at
