Washington DC Neighborhood Recs
Hi all! Long time lurker here. Recently transitioned from finance and signed an offer for a job in Fort Meade, Maryland. Does anyone have recommendations for places to live around that area? I’m in my 20’s so am looking for a fun, urban neighborhood, but it sounds like the options are either living in the city and having a long commute or living in the suburbs which seem boring but will be closer to work. Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
Fort Meade = National Security Agency.
Live on Capitol Hill and commute. A 15-20 minute drive if there’s no traffic. If it’s rush hour or NSA shift change, it’s twice that.
You don’t want to live anywhere around Fort Meade.
If it is the NSA there was a secure shuttle from was it Green belt Metro, I don't know if it still runs. I second Capital Hill maybe Navy Yard, don't do NoMa, some parts of H street NE near the bars and take outs. Stay away from National Harbor. Could look at Inner Harbor in Balt and do a reverse commute unless you have non normal hours.
Capitol Hill and Navy Yard both look great, thanks! Just hoping the traffic isn’t as bad as everyone says it is
It is now....Lol my commute was 25-35 mins and now it's 40 mins in the morning and over a hour in the evening. I go roughly 12 miles and barely go into DC I stay to the East of the city for the majority of my commute through Virginia. The MD side is just as bad coming out of the city, less routes that don't have traffic lights.
