watches...what kind and how much.

Question

what kind of watch do you have? what kind do you recommend for an analyst/associate in PE and how much should i be looking to spend?

i like my swatch. cheap comfortable analog watch with lots of functionality (timer, date, glow in the dark hands, etc). I also have a stainless seiko which is more subaru wrx than porsche...a ton of watch for the money.

i highly recommend the traditional seikos (made for japan) which come with robust movements, excellent stainless construction, and traditional designs. i have a diving watch (Google "black monster") and it's built like a tank for $300.

had a rolex in the past but overall i tired of it too quicky and soured me on high end watches.

Stowa. Nobody else will have one. Super limited production (means a few months wait, though), cheap compared to IWC, and just as old (was one of the Luftwaffe watch makers, hence the Flieger and B-Uhr). Marine in rose gold would hit your budget, Flieger no logo with original brown strap is the classic but is too casual for a suit environment. Also second Glasshutte/Lange & Sohne. Vacheron makes decent ultrathin automatics if you want to be a more classic chap.

IWC is like Porsche - everybody with enough money has one. They are more common than Rolexes!
