What are you worth? MBA pay by region
Happy Wednesday monkeys!
I was just reading through this. Here are some interesting points:
The East Coast attracted the largest amount of 2016 Wharton grads (about 235 in all, about 40% reported their base pay)
The average base of these Wharton grads came at $133,855... the grads that worked on the West Coast reported a base that came at about 7k lower than their East Coast counterparts
The Midwest and South actually paid these Wharton grads more ($138,638 and $135,588, respectively) but either way Wharton grads get paid wherever they choose to work.
Olin Business School grads seem to be undervaluing themselves in staying in the Midwest, as they started with just an average of $98,161. This figure jumped on average for grads that moved to the East and West Coast, with average grads raking in $111,818 and $124,714 respectively.
By staying the Midwest Olin grads stand to lose $10,000 per year. A $250,000 loss, at minimum, over the next 25 years!
UC Berkeley grads either have a reluctance to move East or the employer outreach and alumni networks that are semi non-existent. Only 17 Haas graduates moved east of the Rockies. Pay isn't the problem as the East Coast and Southwest regions pay almost identical salaries to the ones on the West Coast .
Pretty interesting stuff I'd say. I thought that by far and away the East and West Coasts would pay way more for an MBA than some place Midwest.
