What are your favorite TV shows that have finished?

I just wrapped up the 5th and final season of The Last Kingdom and would give it a 10/10. Amazing storylines from start to finish, and the series finale is a perfect ending. I’d put it in my top 10 and possibly top 5 all time.

There are a lot of shows that have great seasons but then fall off, and others that have good and bad seasons mixed in. Not many shows are great start to finish - also think a major problem is many shows aren’t willing to wrap up a series that’s doing good as they want it to keep printing money.

With streaming now taking over, another issue is that some shows will get cancelled even if they’re doing well. Mindhunter on Netflix is an example of this.

House Of Cards was great but turned into trash. Walking Dead had ups and downs.

24 seems like it could fall in the “perfect throughout” category but I haven’t seen it in forever. Same with Breaking Bad.

The Americans was great.

Lost was great but the ending wasn’t 100% on point.

The Sopranos and The Wire are both 10/10 from start to finish.

Stick to HBO “one season” shows and they’ll never fall off. I think it’s so rare that tv shows have an actual good story to tell across 95 hours of episodes. I think 6-10 hours for a full story is the sweet spot.

Eg, The Night Of, Sharp Objects, The Outsider, Undoing, True Detective Season 1, Big Little Lies season one, etc

Westworld fits this as well. Great first season and fortunately it stands alone as its own show in one season. The rest? meh

Take Home Chef with Curtis Stone, Lost, The Big Game (poker), Shark Cage (poker), Shark Tank, Nikita, Breaking Bad, Kitchen Nightmares, Ink Master, Chopped, Beat Bobby Flay

I have a friend who beat Bobby Flay on the show.

24 is definitely re-watchable but unsurprisingly it isn't as good as when I was a kid. Seasons 1-3 (maybe 4?) are really good and then it kinda isn't as good, but still worth a watch if you are a fan.

Would recommend the Walking Dead comics if you haven't read them already; I liked it more than the show.

Friday Night Lights is still pretty good.

The Pacific is better than Band of Brothers IMO.

Something that has a similar feel but was much more intense imo was The Young Pope, Jude Law's character as Pius XIII was very similar to Frank Underwood, but it's a much more dark show. Only 2 seasons also so no unnecessary bullshit with dragging it out.

There is a pretty decent show called Person of Interest.  It is a bit dated now with the tech angle but the show premise is wildly on point and actually get more and more accurate with each passing day.   It drags on a bit too long but if you aren't really put off by that I would recomend it.  It is has some of the best writing and story telling for a near future, at the time, but modern day tech dystopia in a show I have ever seen.

that last season though, what the fuck was that

Oh god Mindhunter was so fucking good I'm appalled they canceled it.

I'm a basic bitch and loved Scrubs. The Sopranos was also amazing. The Wire seemed to slow down a bit in those last couple seasons but all around also great.

surprised that wasn't mentioned yet, Mad Men was incredible. Is it streaming on anything without ads?
