What do most of you finance people do outside of work to stay alive?

I feel like going to the bar is boring and dead. I find everything that is exciting from the start gradually becoming old and stale eventually. Not literally, but it gets old sitting at the bar hanging out with people or strangers that are doing the same shit every friday.

What excites you people? When I was a fucking lad I was looking forward to coming home from school and busting my mates ass in the games that we used to play. I don't find games fun no more.

My life feels super stale. All people in finance do is wear suits, wear dress shirts, wear oxfords. We all look like some tool just like everyone else.

Lowkey, I may sound like I am crazy, but I wonder what it feels like being a pimp. I feel like that life is way more exciting and fun!

I'm more into lowkey places with a more calm crowd. Marquee got 21 year old college kids all sweaty and drunk running around. Not into that scene. I'm more into a chill environment not people throwing up and getting blasted/wasted.

I'm a semi pro musician so my weekends are always in studios or performing live. I am really proud to be one and as a matter of fact that is the profession I tell people when they ask what I do for a living, only later down I tell them my day job (prior accountant, incoming Corporate Banking Analyst).

The music business is always my go to advice when talking to someone who says they are bored and want an adventure no matter what age they are. I am not attractive or tall or rich so I am pretty sure that is the only reason I get laid even though I am not famous and even other straight guys actually lean into the conversation when I tell them what I do at a bar or party so I have made great friends just because of the occupation.

I have tried the finance guy thing and girls always lost interest and guys didn't want to shoot the breeze with the Nth number of finance professionals they've met in NYC but when I say I am a musician all of a sudden the dynamic of the conversation changes and they become more visibly interested in getting to know me and sometimes they lead the conversation and follow up after. Plus the music/art world is ever changing so its never boring.

Actually its because of posts like yours I offered to start a Record Label with people on WSO but no one was interested, I made a post about it and it gained some attention but ultimately no one was interested enough to follow through. I no longer want to do that and will just stick to my current label/management but it is still something I recommend you explore.

Let me know if you have any questions.

What instrument do you play?

"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them." - Bruce Lee

I am researching piano teachers in my area so I can learn how to play. Eventually when I buy a place I want to get a baby grand piano and play. If I’m lucky, get to play in an open theater or have my own audience.

Yeah, but i've been through that so it's not that anymore. It's just pretty stale out here. I'm just the type of guy that craves excitement and chaos, but real life isn't like that.
